John Henry Christian

John Henry Christian, 89, died Sunday, April 25, 2017, peacefully at home.

He was born November 4, 1927 in Pocasset, OK to William E. and Johnnie Pree Martin Christian.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946 until 1968 retiring in Savannah. He then joined Gulfstream Aerospace in 1969 and retired in 1989.

He volunteered with the American Red Cross along with his wife for a combined service of over 40 years. He loved to socialize with his friends at the mall every morning as well as the Lunch Group at the Seniors Center.

He is predeceased by his wife, Elsa Christian, and a son, Guenter Christian.

He is survived by his children, Franke J. Christian (Joy), Nancy Christian Chambless (Jimmy), and Carla Christian Godwin; a sister, Helen Maly; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 28th, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 29th, in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey West.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to the American Red Cross.

I knew John as one of the "Mall Guys" as i mall walked. He would wave everytime i would walk by. He was kind and liked to engage in a good conversation. Sorry to hear of his passing. RIP John
